Jacques-Louis David, official painter of the Revolution and the Empire, gave Neoclassicism its most iconic masterpieces.
His portraits, grand historical compositions, and heroic figures reveal a sculptural rigor and dramatic force that are uniquely his own.
In my studio, I create faithful hand-painted reproductions of his works — oil on canvas and made to order.

David does not paint, he stages: his canvases are like ancient dramas, tense, solemn, with a rare visual power. Each painting is a statement. The gesture, the gaze, the composition—everything is thought out as a visual discourse, clear and straightforward.
David was imprisoned after the fall of Robespierre, his friend and political ally. He even painted behind bars, faithful to his ideals. He produced the famous Coronation of Napoleon on the orders of the emperor himself, who asked for his mother to be included in the painting—even though she was absent on the day itself.
In The Oath of the Horatii and The Death of Marat, David gives substance to ideas. These paintings remain modern in their narrative power and moral tension, which is almost cinematic. The Death of Socrates and The Coronation of Napoleon show that art can be a tool of power as much as beauty—a valuable reflection in the age of political imagery.
